Step by step website design process
For many individuals and businesses, investing in a new website or a design revamp is a big project that doesn’t happen very often.
From my experience of working with individuals through to SMEs across many web design projects, I’ve found that a having a structure helps things run smoothy both in terms of budget and time.
Before starting any website project I always like to take the time to understand you and your business as this helps with the creative side of designing your new website. I pride myself on offering genuine web design advice and support and I am available to discuss your project at a time that suits you.
Here’s how I work with my clients…
Initial chat: before we get into the nitty gritty technical details, I like to understand more about you and your current setup, what design styles you like, your project brief and what role your website plays within your organisation.
Asset gathering: a major part of any project is to get your content and images together, something which can sometimes take a while – I’ll work closely with you to scope an asset checklist.
Design & review: using my creative design skills, I’ll get cracking on an initial design that’s hidden on a staging domain – we can then review and discuss changes / edits together.
Launch & handover: once you’re happy with the design, I’ll push the website live and provide a handover session so you’re comfortable managing it yourself.
FAQs
Do you offer website design price packages?
Unfortunately not. As every website design project is unique, I create bespoke pricing depending on what you are looking for. I do however provide a price list for extras including website hosting, security and monthly management which are fixed ongoing costs.
As a rough example, if you are looking for a simple website that displays images and text and a contact form across a few pages, this sort of project might cost between £500 to £1,000.
On the flip side, if you are looking to create a large website with 50+ pages, a membership section and an online store, this sort of project may cost anywhere between £5,000 to £15,000,
If you are looking for an experienced web designer to build or revamp a website, no matter what your budget, I recommend getting in touch so that we can discuss your project in more detail – I love helping businesses of all shapes and sizes to thrive online.
To start a project, I require a 50% upfront payment followed by the final 50% on project completion.
Do you only work with WordPress?
Yes. WordPress is my go-to content management system (CMS) that I use to build all my websites on. On top of the open-source platform I solely use Divi to build and design pages. Focussing on using Divi and WordPress has enabled me to gain lots of experience across the two platforms which helps me to design and develop high performance websites that not only look good but perform in search results too.
Best of all, WordPress is a very easy to use platform that clients feel comfortable with when managing and updating their site themselves.
What is Divi?
Divi is a professional page builder that allows me to create affordable but performance-driven, beautiful websites. Highly customisable, it’s a fantastic tool that allows clients to fully edit, manage and update their own site after launch. Over the years, I have learnt the ins and outs of Divi, allowing me to create bespoke websites that perform.
What is the cost for hosting?
A hosting package is required to have your website available to see on the internet and must be continually paid for to keep your site live.
I offer all my web design clients the opportunity to host their website with me, with prices starting from as little as £10 per month (paid yearly). This price includes a free SSL certificate and daily backups, just in case the site has any issues. You are also more than welcome to sort your own hosting.
Can you improve my website's security?
If your website is built on WordPress, it’s vital you take your site’s security seriously. I’ve seen first hand websites that have been hacked which have needed to be rebuilt from the ground up, costing the owner thousands!
I provide several security packages, starting from £400 per year, which aim to make your website less vulnerable to attacks. From a traffic firewall to monitoring and scans, I strongly recommend investing in added website security before it’s too late. Drop me a message if you’re looking to harden your site.
