Grass Roots Bakery create award-winning gluten free bread, muffin and pizza mixes. Accredited by Coeliac UK, mixes are available to buy online or via selected retail stores. Each bag is lovingly made by hand in Surrey, using only the finest organic ingredients. Their popular mixes allow those with intolerances to enjoy everyday foods without compromising on taste.
Noticing a decline in organic traffic and online sales, I was contacted by owner Andrea to provide SEO consulting to improve the website’s performance. Working closely with a third-party website support agency, the brief was to reverse the performance decline and set-out a strategy for growth.
With Andrea keen to understand SEO and the way it can impact online sales in more detail, I also created and presented a tailored one-to-one training session which covered the foundations of SEO alongside strategies and tactics that can drive growth.
An initial technical SEO audit was carried out to uncover website issues that were hindering search performance, with fixes briefed and managed through communications with the support agency. It was clear from the data and evidence collected that previously implemented poor SEO techniques were causing a huge decline in online visibility.
After seeing positive results from actioning the audit recommendations, my strategy for growth focussed on two key areas: content and new product development (that matched search intent). Product descriptions were also optimised and new product variations created to increase the average basket value. A content strategy was also implemented that aimed to target visitors looking for gluten-free advice, support and recipes online.
